Making Friends In Animal Crossing

Making Friends In Animal Crossing

It pays to have a good neighbour policy in Animal Crossing – if you are nice to folks, they are usually nice to you. Here are some easy ways to win friends and influence animals in your town.

Introduce Yourself

When you arrive in town, the first thing you should do is meet your new neighbours. You can check the map to see where everyone is living. If you do a good job of keeping your fellow citizens happy in your town and making it a nice place to live, eve more folks will move into the neighbourhood. When you do get new residents, be sure to go over and welcome them to town.

Taking the Time to Listen

Be sure to visit every character in your neighbourhood and check in with them on a regular basis to bolster the sense of community that will keep your neighbours happy about living in your town. Sometimes it will just be a random conversation, but it is still important to listen.

Idle Chitchat and Drama

If your neighbours just want to talk, encourage it. Sometimes there is nothing much to say, but often they will share basic town information or offer good advice, like how to make bells or how to accomplish tasks. They may even get very personal with you and let you in on some of the complex drama going on in their life. This is a sign that you are becoming close friends with your neighbour.

Opinions and Tastes

Talking to your neighbours will sometimes reveal their likes and dislikes. A towny might tell you that he is looking for a certain series of furniture. If you can find it for him, your neighbour will reward you. Occasionally neighbours will ask you for their opinion on things. Give an honest answer and see how they react.

The Chase Is On

As you walk around getting to know your neighbours, once in a while a neighbour’s expression will change and he will chase you down. Talk to him and take the time to listen to what he has to say. If you are kind to them or answer a question, you might receive a gift.

Just Stay Out Of It

Every now and then you will come across a few neighbours who have started their own conversations. (You can tell by the expressions over their heads). You can walk up and press the talk button to eavesdrop. Sometimes you will overhear gossip, other times you will witness a fight and sometimes your neighbours will include you in the conversation.

Hanging With the Neighbours

The folks in your town can do more than just stand around and talk all day – they like to go out and do stuff just like you do. There are many different things you can do with your neighbours, like write letters, trade furniture and other collectible items, and even compete in contests against each other.

Write a Letter and Get a Response

To get the most out of Animal Crossing, you will have to perfect your letter-writing skills. For best results, keep your letters well-written and try to include extra touches like hearts and music notes. Send out letters to as many neighbours as possible as often as you can to create a strong sense of community. Of course, attaching a gift doesn’t hurt, either!

If you compose polite, well-written letters and you have been generous with gifts, you will likely receive an appreciative note or be thanked the next time you see the object of your good will. You may even receive a gift in return and your pen pal may show off the letter to other people. Your mom will also send you the occasional letter.
